Chai is a sweet dog with an exceptional temperament. She got her AKC Canine Good Citizen title when she was only 7 months old and holds her AKC Community Canine (CGCA) and her AKC Canine Good Citizen Urban (CGCU). Chai was certified as a therapy dog when she was only one year old. Chai earned her AKC title of Therapy Dog Advanced (THDA for over 100 visits) and Therapy Dog International Active Outstanding Volunteer title (TDIAOV for active therapy dog with over 150 visits.) As part of her, training Chai learned to respond to American Sign Language so she can work with my students with special needs. She responds with voice off to simple commands like bathroom, sit, stay, and lay. She loves the attention she gets doing therapy work. She does a wide variety of therapy work including working with students with special needs at the local high school to helping college students de-stress at Drexel University. In her down time, she is enjoying weight pulling classes at the K9Jym in Colmar. She competes through the International Weight Pull Association and competitively pulls over 1,020 pounds taking third in her last competition. She is not only weight pulling because she loves it but weight pulling is designed to burn off excess energy, build body strength and conditioning, increase a dog’s confidence, develop a bond of trust between the dog and handler, and is also a competitive sport.  (By Janine and Chuck Erato)
